Affiliate Marketing
To make a reliable income from affiliate marketing is perhaps an
unrealistic target for those just starting out in this field, but it’s
not beyond expectations to secure a steady supplemental flow of
commission from your efforts in a reasonably short period of time.
To start one should shortlist their preferred market / product. The best
choice is one that you know a lot about, have a passion for, or at least
one that you’ll continue to be interested in for a while to come.
The best suited products to focus on with affiliate marketing are those that are very popular, but found to be largely under marketed online. My tip for a product that will sell well is health supplements, as those that have lost their health, for whatever reason it may be, will pay good money to get it back again.
You really need to get your finger on the pulse as to what's currently or seasonally in demand, I like to use a couple of sites for this :
First is eBay, which provides a simple tool for this - it's called the Pulse,
here you
can very easily find what items are hot at any given time. You won't
even need an eBay account to access this feature.
Second I use Google which provides some great free tools to assist
online marketers, one of my favourites is
Google Trends.
This tool gives you access stats on search volume
of keywords plotted over time, this is a fantastic indication of
potential sales on any give product. A similar tool although only in
beta at the moment is
Google Insights for Search which provides much of the same but in a bit more depth. All
this information can then be combined with
stats from Google Keyword analysis - see below.
Next step is to choose a domain name associated with your chosen market
/ product, Google provide a free
keyword
analysis tool which is great for checking global and local search
statistics on your selected word or phrase. with this information on
your side you will be able to benefit from a good deal of exposure on
Google's natural listings with just your domain name alone. It’s likely
the best combinations will be taken, but if you get creative shifting &
varying up some of most popular words, you’ll find something to suit.
